I was looking to a new Sienna. I got a call from Andrea and Cynthia and said that they had one in.

They sent me the Build Sheet and i went over it with her. I asked if i could put a deposit on it over the phone. She said no, i would have to come in. I told her i would be in an hour and she said they would hold the mini van.

I got there, and found out that Andrea and Cynthia are in their " call center". A salesman sat down with me. I should him the build sheet and he told me that in fact, the vehicle would not be in for a few days. He said I would have to put down a $1,000 non refundable deposit.

I told him, that was not a problem, as i was there to buy the Sienna. Now for the CON JOB.

The Salesman told me that when the new cars get to the dealer ship, they put on a "special " paint sealer ( already had an option from the factory) and some type of fabric protectant. He told me that they dont "mark up cars", but that these two special DEALER INSTALLED mandatory Options cost $5k.

I told him that was not told to me by Andrea and Cynthia. True to form, he sent his boss over to me.

Then the boss said, that these two options were already installed on the vehicle. I told him, that was not disclosed.

Then he starts talking about how used cars are costing as much as new ones, blah, blah, but could ORDER a new Sienna. I told him i was not willing to wait 6- 9 months, and this was nothing but a bait and switch.

I would have no problem if the dealer told me ( BEFORE I WASTED TWO HOURS DRIVING BACK AND FORTH) up front, these extra charges, but this is just dishonest.

I called back Andrea and Cynthia at the call center, and they told me they didnt know about this practice, which is just bullsh-t.

AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS.

Terrible Experience

Terrible experience with this dealership. I bought a used car from them.

After I signed the papers, they showed me the CarFax report and I discovered that the car was in an accident and was previously owned by a car rental agency. It appears they purchased the car at an auction. When I'm about to drive off the lot with the car, they hand me one key and say it's all they can provide (a $300 item). Additionally, I didn't even receive an auto manual or license plate holder.

They stuck the license plate in the front window on the dashboard and said the service center was closed - although the new car they were delivering at the same time had license plate holders. They didn't thoroughly inspect or clean up the car.

My kids found bottles of perfume and funeral service cards in the seat pockets. Buyer beware when dealing with these guys!

Propack Fraud

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased a 2016 Highlander from Elgin Toyota. They did a bunch of add ons, one of which was a propack treatment that I was not educated on during financing.

I wanted to cancel the service, the the Elgin Toyota finance department said I can't. AJ told me it was how he was able to get the 6% interest rate, which is a lie. They also said I meed it to certify the vehicle. Another lie.

I talked with 2 people at the main finance department by calling the 800 number. They said it is not required to certify the vehicle. And you just have to make an appointment and they can cancel the service. I was fine woith that.

I called, and Brian tells me I can't cancel the service. I tell him that I spoke with 2 people at the main finance department, and they said I can cancel it. It"s an optional service. I did not have it done, didn't ask for it, and don't want it.

Brain said, " no, you can"t cancel it. I told him I could get the company for fraud. He then hung up the phone on me. I then called other toyota dealers in the area.

They all tell me it' an optional service. I've been a victem of a scam. I want my money back. I don"t want the window etching either, which they added on.

Never mentioned anything about window etching. I want these services cancelled. I am livid! Noone over their cares.

Absolutely the worst car buying experience I have ever had.

Sad because Toyota makes great cars. However, when you have to deal with scam artists, it's aweful.

Updated by user Jun 10, 2019

I paid high price for the car as it had navigation. But when I put their own address it won’t come up..Then 2 nd day when I brought this back to them the sales manager Freeman said that I can take it to any Toyota dealer and they would update it free or just bring back to us as the service staff had left.

It was around 6 pm. Other dealers refused to honor their promise. When I brought it back to them on 06/10/19 the service guy tells me I have to pay more update!, He just took it to the service & gave it back saying it’s updated.

But it was a lie. When I put the address it still does not come up.!!

I look at all the add ins like pro pack, etch, and extended warranty. Im going back to cancell. Its difficult to get in touch with the financial dept.

Sexist, arrogant sales manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It’s my first time to buy a car and I was with my boyfriend. (We are both in our early 20s).

Right at the entrance, we were welcomed by Pete, who was very accomodating, welcoming, and was trying to get us the best price that would make us both happy. But then, Siril, the sales manager arrived and he automatically assumed that the car was for my boyfriend, and not me, so he was basically ignoring me and trying to make sales talk with my boyfriend. So I just kept quiet, until my boyfriend told him that the car was actually for me, and that’s the ONLY TIME Siril looked at me.

Moreover, he automatically assumed that we don’t have any credit, he was actually literally laughing at us and saying we can’t apply for finance, until I told him that our credit score was 795 and our credit limit is 11,500, that was the only time he took us seriously and by that time, I was kind of annoyed that I decided to just walk away. A+ for Pete but for Siril, a big F.

Don't trust their brake work!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Don't trust their brake work! My Prius rear brake rotor put on by them were cut in March 2018, right after I drove back home from their store, I noticed the rotors had grooves on it. I called them many times and complained about it. Today (May 21, 2018) I stopped by and wanted to show my concern to their service department director Anthony Thiel. First I was told that he is at another dealership so I cannot talk to him. But later the assistant manager went inside and brought him over. Mr. Thiel was very arrogant and rude. I told him I drove all the way to their store to show him my concern, but at one point he said "I did not tell you to come!". When questioned him about the grooves on rear rotor, I compared with my front brake rotors which were original and groove-free, he said my front rotors were made in Japan and my rear rotor they put on were made somewhere else, so they are not comparable. He offered me to cut the rear rotors again, but told me grooves will come back. So I turned down his offer.

They rear brake rotors and pads were replaced by Elgin Toyota at the end of 2016, and the rotor became so rough in January of 2018, and the technician said the caliber froze due to lack of grease put on the caliber from the work done in 2016. That is why I asked to re-cut the surface of the rear brake in March 2018.

When looking at the whole thing, the poor brake service are multiple-folds: (1) The work done at end of 2016 did not have caliber greased properly. (2) The rotor they put on do not meet the standard of the factory rotor. That is why so many grooves on their rotors.

I thought Toyota dealers would use all the quality parts, but apparently it is not the case with Elgin Toyota.

My original rear brake lasted almost 80,000 miles, but after Elgin Toyota replaced my rear brake, it lasted a little bit more than 10,000 miles and then I had to resurface the rotors.

It is very disappointing.

Rude behavior of your staff

I had my last car with Elgin Toyota and tried to get another one. This time I had experience extremely rude behavior of Mr.Bob who is General Manager at Elgin. He doesn’t realize that he is talking to customer and level of tone should be proper. Customer might have so many questions as for us it’s a investment. He just don’t listen and feel that he is the best.. I would like escalate this issue to Elgin Toyota management and Toyota company. Elgin Toyota may loose great customers if he won’t change his attitude..

Added costs in sales contract

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Be careful at Elgin Toyota, as they put in an extra cost of $299 for extra warranty when I told them I did not want it. They also charge the max fees allowed like max ERT fee of $25 plus the max fee of $172.15 documentary fee. I believe it was Mike Herbert that added that extra $299 warranty cost even after I told him NO to it. When I signed the warranty paper it was explained it was to transfer warranty into my name. I did not see or was it pointed out that there was a box with 299.00 as extra cost. I would not buy another car from them.

Worst car shopping experience ever!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We called and made an APPOINTMENT to see a car. We drove from central Wisconsin to this dealership and as we drove in the parking lot, the car we had an appointment to see was driving out on a test drive. We heard a *** story about their internet team not communicating properly. They convinced us to stay to see if the couple test driving the car would get financing. (Eventually they did.) We were there for over three hours and during that time were told they would sell us a car for cost - "we won't make $1 off a car we sell you." Another lie! "Pick any car and we will work it out." They put us in a car - double our budget and then proceeded to *** us about their cost. The deal goes from getting a car at cost to a $500 discount on the $2000 extended warranty - which after speaking with another dealership we were told those warranty's are $499. We got up and left.

DISHONEST!! AND VERY $$$$ HUNGRY!!!!!!!!

I brought in my wife's 2007 Camry for an engine overhaul under Toyota's warranty! (Car was burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles - Toyota ask to bring car to dealership) The car was working fine when I took it in BUT when I got it back the hood lifts were not holding the hood, the power steering hose was leaking (a lot) and the engine did not looked like it had been open. I was told they also had to replaced the valve cover gasket (believe me, I do say this lightly) It REALLY does not look like the top of the engine was ever removed! Plus the top and bottom of the engine (right where the gasket goes) is still very dirty all the way around as far as I can see; all screws seem untouched. They put 5-20 Mobile one in the car (I've been using mobile one since I purchased the car) The oil in the dip stick feels very heavy; like they used some kind of an additive! I talked to service manager Johnny and all he had to say was "This parts do wear" "I am sorry this happened" AND when I expressed my unhappiness he kept saying "I am sorry you feel this way" A friend of mine has purchased 2 cars (SUV) from St Charles Toyota, she is happy I think I will be going there from now on!!!! BTW. We were averaging 26 MPG before the car was "overhauled", we now get 18. It Is going to cost me over 500 USD to get just the lifts and Power steering return line fixed!!!!! according to the estimate they gave me! THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! I must well get this out of my chest too. The car has been in the dealership several times (for the overhaul and 3 more times to have the milage and the other mentioned issues checked; NOT ONCE have they washed the car like I see they do for others! PS. The mechanic was brought in, he told me the hood did not stay open when he first got the car, I asked them to look at the video of when I first brought the car in BUT they did not seem to be interested!

All i can say is that never forget to get a vehicle history report to avoid lemon cars. Buying used cars is risky and can be a migraine in the future.

Vinaudit reports are just enough to check vins to. It will show you all the records as Carfax do but on the most cheapest price ($4.99) using this link: http://www.vinaudit.com/coupon=JQEBL50OFF

Sales and Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If you are looking to buy a car ask for Angela Bucaro; least pushy sales person I have ever dealt with when it comes to buying a car. I test drove several cars several times and she was easy to talk to throughout the whole process and never once got aggressive or tried to up sell. Also, if you are getting service work done, ask to work with Dennis Sheahen again above and beyond service. I was sold a car with worn out tires and he along with Angela made sure I got 4 new ones at no cost. Great service team who actually works with the customers on discounts and fairness.

Elgin Toyota spray paint their used vehicles right outside..poor quality jobs, higher prices that they are not willing to negotiate. I test drove two vehicles that I liked but both were with repainted bumpers. I could even tell how badly they painted those bumpers. They dont do good work...I was looking at 2013 **** models suvs but ended up walking away.
